Teaser Trailer on Youtube. No idea how long it'll be there. It's from IGN.com so maybe it'll just stay.

We all know you have a man-crush on Depp, Gaz. It's ok, embrace your feelings.

It didn't stay very long.

I'm going to look for it elsewhere though.

Well we saw it last night, and it was pretty good overall. I think we'll be Netflixing it at some distant point in the future, but not purchasing it. The trailers for TRON Legacy and Toy Story 3 were worth 30% of the admission price, IMO. Not to say that the movie wasn't worthwhile on its own, I just liked them that much.

It's a sequel of sorts, not really a remake, if anyone was wondering. At least for me, it kept me on my toes wondering how they would interpret/diverge from the Alice story. I really liked the casting choices of Stephen Fry as The Cheshire Cat and Alan Rickman as Absolem the caterpillar.

My two cents: I was disappointed by the lack of disorientation in the film. Especially in a 3D rendition, I wanted to feel like I really fell down the rabbit hole in the figurative sense, but instead it was just another adventure movie (albeit casted by some wonderfully weird characters). The story was predictable, and Wonderland should never have anything to do with that word.

Good points:
- Beautiful visuals - the Red Queen's castle was really something, and their realization of the look of the Wonderland characters was excellent.
- Most of the characters themselves were fantastic. I absolutely adored the March Hare. Also of note, the Cheshire Cat was impeccably cat-like, the Tweedles were the perfect blend of endearing and odd, and Depp did a surprisingly excellent job with the Hatter.

I really wish they had just stuck with the original story, and I'm not a huge Alice in Wonderland (or Through the Looking Glass) fan. They just didn't capture me with the plot they chose and I think if they had taken those characters and put them in a really good, really Wonderlandy story, the movie would have been something special.

I agree with what seems to be the consensus here. It's good... but it was just lacking a little something that really pushed it to be super awesome. I've never read the books, I've only seen the cartoon once or twice, and i never saw any live action version from before. I enjoyed the characters a lot and visually, it was done well. I think one thing to remember while clamoring for a story that is crazy and all over the place and fun is that they have to market to a broad general audience. And while we are awesome and can handle following something like that, a lot of people can't. There were many times in the theater I head people asking the person next to them what was just said. They couldn't follow the strange words and such very well. Throw even more craziness in there and you'll lose a lot of audience members. It's unfortunate, but true. It's a fine line to get what we're looking for here without going into David Lynch realm, (whom I'm actually not a big fan of; totally long different story) so they played it safe.

TRON trailer was insanely awesome. :)

You're totally right that's what they did. Another way to say it is that they had to sell out to make money. I always feel the art should come before the commerce, but they made the opposite decision and I can only blame them so much for it.
